First Update!

It’s March 13th, 2024. I just got back from my second instrument training flight. Instrument training is a very difficult part of my flight path, and some say it is the most difficult step on the way to becoming a professional pilot. Each flight, I put on special goggles that restrict any vision outside and I have to rely exclusively on what the plane’s instrumentation tells me I am doing. It can be very disorienting because our bodies use several methods of sensing our environment and our position relative to it, and all of them are disrupted and incorrect when flying an aircraft with no outside reference. It feels like the plane is doing things it is definitely not doing. It is a challenging but fun part of my training as the tolerances for what airspeed, altitude, and heading I need to be flying tighten.

A fun side note, today is my brother Ryan’s 26th birthday, and he today he is also completing his first flight of instrument training in Texas.
